Absolute Value Functions – Identify the vertex, axis of symmetry, extrema, and domain/range of absolute value functions in this ♫ Musical Groups Activity.
♬ Must add Music! ♬
Students each armed with one transformation card mingle around the perimeter of the room while music pumps in the background. Group worksheets lie around the room. The music stops and students rush to papers to form impromptu groups. Students record card contents, create an absolute value function with those transformations, and then identify the critical parts of the function. Names are recorded, cards are traded, and students return to the perimeter ready for the music to pulsate again.

★Common Core Standard: HSF.IF.B.4 ★
♩ Note: This activity assumes students know how to write an absolute value function given the transformations.
Teacher tested; student approved.
Algebra concepts assessed: Identifying the vertex, axis of symmetry, maximum and minimum, domain and range of absolute value functions (equations) in vertex form
± All feedback is valued and encourages improved products. Did you know buyers also have access to future revisions?
