This product is a scavenger hunt activity that I have done with my Algebra 1 students to review Absolute Value Functions. The activity is quick, but fun for students. It consists of eight problems, which are the graphs of absolute value functions. The problems are scattered throughout the classroom. Each graph has 4 equations and corresponding letters. Students find the correct answer and record the letter from that station. When finished, they will have 8 letters which they will need to unscramble. The letters spell out the word FUNCTION.
I created this activity because my students needed practice writing an equation, given a graph of an absolute value function. This activity helped facilitate discussion among students, which in turn resulted in deeper understanding of the concept.
