These activities are in 1 variable and the solutions are on a number line.

Included in this zip folder are 8 Power Point files. 3 are for instruction and 5 are assignments. A brief description of each:

Lesson #1 is a 66 slide file. The emphasis is understanding the language, graphs and solutions sets of abs (x) = k, abs (x) > k and abs (x) < k where k is both positive and negative.

Lesson #2 is a 33 slide file. The emphasis is solving and graphing the solutions sets of abs (ax+b) = k, abs (ax+b) > k and abs (ax+b) < k where k is both positive and negative. 11 formative assessment problems are embedded in this file to aid student growth.

Lesson #3 is a 20 slide file. The emphasis is solving and graphing the solutions sets of abs (ax+b) + c = k, abs (ax+b) + c > k and abs (ax+b) + c < k where k is both positive and negative. 5 formative assessment problems are included in this file.

Assignment #1 is a 22 question file. 6 questions are matching and 16 are multiple choice. These problems are in the forms abs (x) = k, abs (x) > k and abs (x) < k where k is both positive and negative. It is on 1 page for easy printing.

Assignment #2 is a 22 question file. 6 questions are matching and 16 are multiple choice. These problems are in the forms abs (ax+b) = k, abs (ax+b) > k and abs (ax+b) < k where k is both positive and negative. It is on 1 page for easy printing.

Assignment #3 is a 22 question file. 6 questions are matching and 16 are multiple choice. These problems are in the forms abs (ax+b) + c = k, abs (ax+b) + c > k and abs (ax+b) + c < k where k is both positive and negative. It is on 1 page for easy printing.

Assignment #4 is 2 page 16 question written assignment. The student must solve and graph absolute value inequalities in the following forms:
1. abs (x) = < > k
2. abs (ax + b) = < > k
where k is both positive and negative.

Assignment #5 is 2 page 12 question written assignment. The student must solve and graph absolute value inequalities in the following forms:
1. abs (ax + b) + c = < > k
where k is both positive and negative.
