Solving and graphing absolute value inequalities can be a challenging concept for algebra students to understand. This card sort can help students see the "big picture" by breaking down the steps involved in the process.
Students will identify each inequality as either a conjunction or disjunction and will need to isolate the absolute value in order to do this. Then, they will decide what the combined inequality necessary to solve the problem will look like. Finally, they will solve the inequality and match it to the graphed the solution.
This is a great activity to include in an interactive notebook. It can be used as an introductory activity, notes, an assignment, a math center, or a review.
