This presentation is a great way to introduce absolute value to students for the first time in 6th grade. It directly correlates to standard [6-NS7] in the Common Core. However, this concept is frequently reviewed at the beginning of 7th and 8th grade because of its importance in mastering other standards. This lesson is designed to get students involved through questioning. The answers to each example are provided at the end of the PowerPoint. It can be easily converted into a Flip Book for Smart Board users.
Included is a worksheet with answers that is perfect for a homework or classwork follow-up activity. It is a 20 question worksheet that includes computational and critical thinking questions.
