The main character Albie struggled with fitting in and measuring up to being the best at something. He constantly felt like a failure and a disappointment to his family, but luckily he met a few supportive mentors along the way.

This story is relatable for all ages of students as they navigate social norms to fit in and better themselves. Although the vocabulary, setting or plot development is on the simplistic side, it makes for a relatable story. Great for beginning or end of year classroom culture discussions and bonding.

The chapters are short and the font is large. Great for read-alouds, novel studies, or guided reading groups. Reading Level = 4.6 / Guided Reading Level = V
