Kindergarten Academic Morning Meetings & Poem of the Week- DECEMBER
Do you wish you had time for morning meetings, but stress when it takes away from instructional time? If so, this packet is for you! This packet promotes social and emotional learning while reviewing skills and standards your kindergarteners need. Your students will be learning as they have an enjoyable start to their day. It's the best of both worlds! These plans are intentional and easy to use. You can now have full morning meetings and know your students are getting everything they need- academically and emotionally!
This is a Poem of the Week and Morning Meeting Bundle that you can use for the month of December! It contains complete morning meeting plans, weekly poems, and ideas for Poem of the Week.
About the Morning Meeting Plans
This packet includes Morning Meeting plans for the entire month of December. Morning Meeting helps to build strong classroom community while teaching important social and emotional skills that will help students succeed. The morning meeting plans are academic
based. Your students will be reviewing kindergarten skills and standards while working on team building and promoting strong classroom community.
On Mondays and Fridays, you will see that I have planned for "Motivational Mondays" and "Fun Fridays." Those days are more geared towards social/ emotional learning and team building and are a great way to start and end the week. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, you will find morning meeting plans that are fun and exciting, but that are also academic based. All greetings and activities are already planned and ready for you to use! You just have to print and go! No prep necessary!
Most greetings and activities take 3-6 minutes. If you are on a time crunch, I suggest choosing 2-3 activities each week to teach and reuse them to save time! They are academic based, so if you don't have time to use some of them during Morning Meeting, then you can use them during your instructional block. They are great for review!!
Included with this packet are 15 greetings, 15 activities, and endless ideas for your daily message. There are only 3 weeks of plans, because I account for winter break being the fourth week. The greetings and activities are game and team building based. I have not included plans for a daily share. If you want to know what I do each day for a share, check out my Star Student packet on my TPT store! It includes a year's worth of shares in one simple product: Click Here!
About the Poem of the Week
Poem of the week is a great way to develop reading fluency, comprehension, sight word recognition and confidence in reading. It's also a great tool to review your weekly skills and standards through shared reading and writing. Poems are great for students in Kindergarten. I use the Poem of the Week as my message portion of morning meeting.
There are 3 weekly, thematic poems included in this bundle. The themes for the poems included in this packet are "December/ Winter Traditions." The poems are intended for use during your morning meeting block or your literacy block. There are also daily/weekly lesson plan ideas to use with the poems during your shared reading/ message block. I have also included center ideas that will last the entire year! This center is a classroom favorite!
When can I use this packet?
The poems are great to use for Shared Reading, the message portion of Morning Meeting, literacy centers, whole group, small group, fluency practice or during your phonics block.
The Morning Meeting plans are great to use everyday. The plans are different and exciting each morning. Your students will love them! You could also use several of the activities throughout the day during lessons to review standards.
