Students will define commonly used academic language in literacy. This activity includes both VERBS (i.e. analyze, evaluate, etc.) and NOUNS (i.e. theme, main idea, etc.). The definitions are in kid-friendly language so they are easy to understand. Each vocabulary activity has twelve terms to work with and comes with an answer key for each activity.
Analyze, Develop, Determine, Demonstrate, Explain, Evaluate, Identify, Comprehend, Compare, Contrast, Draw Out, and Describe.
Central/Main Idea, Evidence, Detail, Meaning, Structure, Tone, Theme, Explicit, Narrative, Point of View, Reference, Figurative Language.
This is a fun matching activity that will help students understand what is being asked of them on standardized tests based off of the CCSS, such as PARCC, when teachers are not able to help them understand what the words mean. Give your student's the ability to feel confident in what is being asked of them on ELA tests and activities.
