Product Description
Academic Morning Meetings First Grade SEPTEMBER
This is a Poem of the Week and Morning Meeting Bundle that you can use for the month of September!

Poem of the week is a great way to develop reading fluency, comprehension, sight word recognition and confidence in reading. It's also a great tool to review your weekly skills and standards through shared reading and writing. Poems are great for students in First Grade.

This packet also includes Morning Meeting plans for the entire month of September! Morning Meeting helps to build a strong classroom community while teaching important social and emotional skills that will help students succeed. I strongly believe in the power of morning meetings. I put an academic twist to my morning meetings because I never seemed to have time to review skills and this was a way for students to grow closer, learn social skills, and have fun while still learning!

About This Packet
The weekly poems in this packet focus on first grade standards and building classroom community for the month of September. There is a heavy focus on addition and reading skills (see below for specifics). It includes several review games that encourage team building but are academic based.

Each week has a different theme/poem: The Hall (back to school), Gray Squirrel (fall), Just Alike (synonyms), and Books (reading). The poems are intended for use during your morning meeting block or your literacy block.

Each weekly poem contains ideas for weekly greetings and activities that you can use during morning meeting. I use the weekly poem as my message/ shared reading piece each day. I choose a skill/standard to focus on during the message portion of our morning meeting.

I have not included plans for a daily share. If you want to know what I do each day for a share, check out my Star Student packet on my TPT store! Click Here!

There are 4 weekly, thematic poems for each month of September that include morning meeting plans (greeting, activity plans, and ideas for the share and message) for every day in September. All plans reflect academic and social/emotional learning goals that tie to the weekly reading. Every greeting, share, and activities are already planned and ready for you to use! You just have to print and go! No prep necessary! No more looking for items to use during your morning meetings :)
There are also daily/weekly lesson plan ideas to use with the poems during your shared reading/ message block. I have also included center ideas that will last the entire year! This center is a classroom favorite!

When can I use this packet?
These poems are great to use for Shared Reading, the message portion of Morning Meeting, literacy centers, whole group, small group, fluency practice or during your phonics block. This packet is intended for use during morning meeting, but the review games can be used in other areas as well.

I plan all weeks with a Motivational Monday and Fun Friday. On Mondays and Fridays, the greetings and activities are not academic based, but instead are focused on community building. It's a great way to kick off and end your week.
