! I created this planner specifically for upper elementary-aged girls for two reasons only: improved self-esteem and academic achievement.
I Am/Affirmations: The planner begins with an affirmations page. I think it is important for young girls to view themselves in a positive manner and to say and believe positive things about themselves. Even if a girl is struggling with reading comprehension, I believe it is important for her to say to herself that she excels in reading comprehension until it happens. My mission for the affirmation page is to destroy defeat and build self-confidence for every girl that receives this product.
Goal-Setting Page: I’ve included an example of how to complete the goal-setting page. The purpose of the goal-setting page is for girls to set attainable goals for themselves each month. Girls also have to come up with action plans on how each goal will be achieved. In order to hold girls accountable, they must have an adult to sign off on the goals they’ve set. This enables adults to be actively involved with girls.
Monthly Calendar: All planners have monthly calendars. This is just a space for girls to jot down important dates.
Homework: This is also an accountability piece. Girls must write down their homework assignments daily and acquire an adult initial everyday.
Reading Log: Every month, girls have a reading log. This was designed for girls to keep track of the books they’ve read and the Accelerated Reader tests they’ve passed.
Reading Reflection: Another tool to hold girls accountable for reading is the reading reflection page. Girls have different reflection activities each month focusing on a book they’ve read.
**BONUS** Girls receive a vision board page. This tool is used to place graphics of things girls want to happen. It’s important for girls to visually see what they want to happen for themselves.
