Help your students prep for university-entrance exams with this academic vocabulary resource! A strong command of academic vocabulary is crucial for anyone going into higher education. So what to do with a list of words? They need academic vocabulary, but flat out memorizing words doesn’t work—we all know that. Turn your students into active learners by giving them the opportunity to speak, which will reduce “teacher talk” at the same time.
All activities are designed for use with learning definitions, other forms of the words (different parts of speech), synonyms/antonyms, and usage in sentences. While learning these vocabulary words, students will also be learning the reading comprehension skills (and test taking skills) of finding meaning within the context, look for clues with synonyms/antonyms, and using the part of speech to narrow down a definition.
✂️Warning: Preparing the activities DOES take time. There is a lot of cutting involved. However whether you use cardstock or you are a laminating lover, you’ll end up with sets that can be used over and over again. Once that prep work is done, you’ll be ready to go at a moment’s notice. Recommendations for creating, organizing, and storing the sets are included in each resource packet.
✍HOWEVER, worksheet activities are also included for when you need something NOW.
