Direct vocabulary instruction is guided by Goldilocks and the Three Bears to teach: compare, contrast, describe, distinguish, identify, retell, category, recognize
Goldilocks and the Three Bears will teach these vocabulary words to your students: compare, contrast, describe, distinguish, identify, retell, category, recognize. The burden on us to teach vocabulary has not only increased in quantity but also in rigor. Teaching the critical vocabulary is expected to begin in K-1, which is the same vocabulary that research has found in more than 80% of standardized testing.
Now more than ever I am needing resources to help me teach this critical vocabulary to young children and bring it down to their level. I chose the theme of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” because it is a well-known story and found in some current reading programs. It is an easy story for ELL students to understand and connect to the critical vocabulary.
Large anchor charts and smaller word-wall words are included, both in color and black and white versions. Engaging printable activities and writing prompts will help your students use the vocabulary. Teacher helps and answer keys are available too!
I trust that this product helps you teach the critical vocabulary in a more developmentally appropriate way!
