This learning task is a great way for students to practice basic math skills that should be automatic (multiplication tables, certain percents, etc). They are also great for differentiating basic math skills for students. Everyone may start with the same AYMS! sheet but will be able to move on once they have completed the trial (see below). Initial organization may be time consuming but once you have the system set up, these Accelerate Your Math Skills! sheets are easily integrated into the classroom as a quick 5 minute activity (total). A score card is also included for students to visually keep track of their scores each time. The trial requires students to use a pencil on a blank AYMS! sheet (no answers). These will be graded by the teacher for final approval. Students can move on to the next AYMS! sheet once they get 100% on the trial. Students who are not completing an appropriate number of AYMS! sheets should be targeted by the teacher as students in need of help.
* Rewards can be given for completing a certain number
* Score cards/100% trial sheets can be posted in the classroom
In this AYMS! sheet, students are practicing converting mixed numbers into improper fractions.
