At Teaching for Change, products are student-centered and data driven. After failing miserably with Accelerated Reader in my classroom, I decided to approach it from a new angle. This is the current system I use in my classroom. It is the WIG approach where students set their own goals and monitor them closely. This bundle begins with introductory materials to help students define what a "good" reader is versus the idea of what a "struggling reader" is. Then students set goals after STAR testing. There are also teacher-created reward passes, ideas for implementation of both individual and whole-class incentives as well as the WIG reading log.
