This product is a useful and fun reading log to help students summarize and track their independent reading. It includes directions for use and black line masters to copy for students to fill in information for novels chapter-by-chapter.
Here are some suggestions for implementation:
Provide students with the title card and predictions card and one copy of the chapter cards when they start a new book. Make copies of the chapter cards and place them somewhere in the classroom for students to access on their own whenever they finish a chapter. Use card stock for copies if possible.
Make sure students complete the title card and predictions card before starting the book.
Provide students with binder ring and allow access to hole punch so they can add chapters to the ring as they read. Alternatively, have them keep the papers in a reading folder until they finish the book, and then have them cut out the cards and staple them together.
Have students use the cards to review the story before taking an AR test, but do not allow them to use the cards while taking the AR test.
Use for independent Accelerated Reader Reading. Good for a home reading log and/or for D.E.A.R. time in the classroom.
These can also be used for partner reading, novel studies, or teacher read-alouds.
