Encourage students to earn their AR book points goals with this tracking system.
When students earn points, they "belong" to a points percentage "club." Clubs are 0-25%, 26-50%, 51-75%, 76-99%, and 100% and over.
I laminate the posters, printed to 11x17 (or any size you'd like), hang them on the wall, stapled only across the top. Then, I write students' names on wooden clothespins (you can get a package of 100 for under $5 at most dollar stores) and clip them along the sides of the posters. (Since I have four LA classes, I use a different color marker for each class period.) As students progress toward their goals, they clip their clothespin to the corresponding poster.
I periodically do incentives throughout the term, such as offering prizes for the class with the most pins in the upper clubs, or a treat for anyone in the 50% club by a certain date, etc...
It's an easy system to implement and the students can operate it on their own. I do allow students to opt out of the system if they are uncomfortable, though very few do.
