As a French teacher, I was dismayed when provided with a tablet computer lacking a number pad and realizing that it was not going to be an easy thing to put in accents using the ALT + number method. I found out, from a colleague, that there was actually an easier method of doing so. By going into the settings, you can change to different keyboards and even access different alphabet keyboards like Hebrew. I changed to a Canadian Multilingual Standard and my life typing French improved immensely. These instructions make it easy to do, step by step, the change from the American QWERTY keyboard to virtually any keyboard of your choice. This works for both PC and Apple products!
