The unit was broken down so that I was able to support students in creating organized, clear, and coherent writing. I was able to break student writing down beginning with paragraph writing and on to according writing (5 point essay)
The unit was color coded which gave students visual cues for their writing
The unit gave students sentence stems to get them started in their writing
The unit allowed students to write about real-world topics
Though other text types were practiced, we focused on the specific text type required by 8th grade state standards
Students went as far as creating a time line for each section of their writing. ie. Outline 2 mins, Intro, 3 min. Body paragraphs 8mins, conclusion 2 mins, editing/revisions 15 mins.
Chrome Books were used to practice and publish writing (practice for ACT Aspire)
