Accountability is a PROBLEM! We find that problems do not go away when we ignore them. Action is required in order to turn the corner on creating a better workplace culture or environment.
This simple tool, used in a multitude of ways, brings these problems to the forefront by monitoring employee behavior as it relates to any predetermined set of categories (i.e., Professionalism, Duties and Responsibilities, Promptness and Timeliness, and Attitude and Behavior). These categories may be made specific to each employee or an organization (i.e., school).
Whether used strictly among leaders of an organization or between leaders and followers, this tool is sure to make a difference with respect to increasing the level of consciousness as it relates to the behaviors that may need to be changed or further developed. For example, as it pertains to leaders, a white board can be configured in the same fashion as this document to track the behaviors associated with predetermined categories. Leaders may then designate a scheduled time to meet once per month (i.e., week or quarter) to discuss these behaviors and how they may have affected the performance of the organization.
It is recommended that this tool is used with each participant's privacy in mind. In the leader-follower scenario, it is important that all documentation remains confidential and not shared with other followers or non-leadership personnel. Also, in the leadership boardroom scenario, it is recommended that the leaders initials are used versus their first or last names; that is, if some other method of privacy is being used.
