The accountability contract is intended for students who are struggling with classroom presence. Teachers can use the contract with individuals, groups or a whole class.
Each day is broken up into specific tasks/expectations for the students to mark how they are doing. Students should be encouraged to mark the contracts honestly, as the goal isn't to punish but to reflect. There is also an attendance piece, to allow students an opportunity to see how their physical presence might be affecting their success.
The goal would be for students to spend time reflecting on their classroom presence, in a non-punitive forum. At the end of a selected period of time, teacher and student can meet to discuss the behaviors students are noticing that may be negatively affecting their role in the classroom.
