My goal this year is to hold my students accountable for the independent reading that I expect them to be doing each and every day. This has definitely been a challenge for me in the past!
This print and go resource contains enough materials to compose an entire section of your students' binders! Included are 42 prompts (designed to be used on a weekly basis) that are applicable to any work of fiction. Students can choose prompts that apply to where they are in their books (before reading, during reading, and after reading). Assign one day a week that you will check or collect your students' responses. This is a great way to either informally or formally assess your students' comprehension of their novels, and ensure that they are reading on a daily basis. They will also benefit from writing on a repeated and regular basis.
If you prefer that your students use notebooks, I have also included an alternate version of the prompts that are meant to be glued on the heading of a notebook page.
