Product Description
Research has indicated that students report a better understanding of content presented, a strong sense of community in the classroom, and opportunity to develop an appreciation for the diversity of classmates' backgrounds, experiences, knowledge, and beliefs when using accountable talk.

This TOOLKIT provides all the resources you need to get accountable talk started in your classroom!

Included in this toolkit:

• Guides for introducing accountable talk to your students
• Signs for students to hold to encourage accountable talk
• Classroom posters to reminder students of how to have a meaningful conversation
• Cards to stick on students' desks to promote accountable talk all day

These accountable talk tools are great for:
• Students who hesitate to raise hands. The talking sticks encourage students to participate, but do not require the student to talk. Students who feel uncomfortable sharing responses are more likely to participate with these sticks.
• Having posters in the classroom and cards on students' desks with accountable talk phrases will be effective in creating meaningful conversations throughout the day.

The following phrases are on the talking sticks:
"I agree."
"I disagree."
"I would like to add to that…"
"We used the same strategy."
"I used a different strategy."

The following phrases on are the posters:
"I agree with you because..."
"I disagree with you because..."
"What I heard you say was..."
"What strategy did you use?"
"How do you know?"
"I got the same answer, but used a different strategy."
"I know my answer is right because..."
"I would like to add to what you said."

The following phrases on are on the desk cards:
"I agree with you because..."
"I disagree with you because..."
"What I heard you say was..."
"What strategy did you use?"
"How do you know?"
"I got the same answer, but used a different strategy."
"I know my answer is right because..."
