We've all heard about using Accountable Talk in the classroom. Typically though, we're given a poster with question stems and told to implement them in our classroom. Oftentimes this leaves us with more questions than answers. How do we engage students? What should it really look like? What exactly do students to say to each other?
In this document, you are given 2 Flow Charts that detail different scenarios that may occur when using Accountable Talk. With the help of the Flow Charts you will have everything you need to teach your students how to engage in Accountable Talk.
While using these strategies in my classroom I have received the highest scores possible on evaluations in the areas of "Questioning" and "Academic Feedback." I have no doubt that these Flow Charts will teach you how to best utilize Accountable Talk in your lessons, while encouraging students to actively participate in class.
