Accountable Talk Posters would be a great asset to your classroom. We are speech and language providers in a High School, but they can be used in any classroom setting. Accountable Talk is a great strategy to get your students engaged in meaningful discussions. These posters will guide the students by providing them with sentence starters that they can use when engaged in a group discussion. Accountable Talk includes sentence starters for the following areas: Confirm, Agree, Disagree, Clarify, Confusion, Connect, Inquire, Summarize, and Extension. The preview includes an example of sentence starters for "Confirm" but there are separate posters included for each of the Accountable Talk areas. We hope this is as successful in your classroom as it has been in ours.
We also created a smaller version of the "Accountable Talk" sentence starters that we use with our students. We found that some of our students found it better to have all of the categories in front of them when they were engaged in an oral discussion with the expectation to use "Accountable Talk".
