These fun wand stem questions are excellent for whole group, small group or even partner discussions. Get your students into a purposeful discussion!
I created this set due to the fact my students had trouble getting past the “I agree with” or “I disagree with” statement. They didn’t know where to go from there with their discussion. Also the same handful of students were always the ones leading and discussing the topics. I wanted all my students to participate so I created the wands. Each student will receive two or three wands to use as question/discussion starters. Once they have used a wand, it is turned over on their desk and they must choose another wand to add to the conversation. Once all their wands are turned over they may not participate in the discussion again until everyone has had a chance to do so. This way every child gets a chance to have their opinion/voice heard.
To Make Wands:
Simply print the colored stars on white card stock, laminate and attach to Popsicle (craft) sticks. Gluing with a strong glue would be best.
This package contains 80 stems (4 each of 20 different stem starters) and a blank template for you to add your own if you need to.
