*Updated with Scrappin Doodles clip art and smaller sizes!*
Do you love cooperative learning activities and want an easy way to increase the quality of your students' conversations? Then try these "Accountable Talk" sticks! These sticks contain 7 sentence/question stems to help your students carry on meaningful conversations about their learning. Print them out and attach them to paint sticks for a tangible and interactive tool your students can use during any cooperative learning activity. The students can use clothespins to indicate which sentence/question stem they are going to use to begin their thought. You can print one for each student, or have partners share one to model turn-taking.
For those of you who use the Kagan Cooperative Learning model, I included speech bubbles to glue at the top of the paint sticks with symbols to remind students that during cooperative learning activities, there are "no hogs and no logs."
My cooperative learning tables are color coordinated, so I made these sticks in 5 different colors: pink, blue, green, orange and purple.
I would love to hear how you use them in your classroom!
