This file is the student data sheet (formatted to be cut into half sheets) for a quick activity I do when teaching my students about accuracy and precision. This helps them visualize and begin to analyze data.
On my front lab table I tape down a hula hoop. In the center I make an "x" with tape. I have students throw bean bags from around the room (one round it might be all from the same spot, one round might be from where they pick, etc.) so that they land in the hoop. Students use the data sheet to record where the bean bag "data points" landed. Then they decide what level of accuracy and what level of precision they think those points are relative to the "x". Students love this activity because they get to throw things!
