This lab uses the NYS Reference Table - Table O (Indicators) to assist students in their study of which acid-base indicators are suitable for indicating solutions of certain pH ranges.
This lab, specifically, uses the indicator methyl orange, but you could use any indicator you wish by adjusting the pH of the testing solutions.
I have provided teacher's notes on the easiest and most time-friendly method of making the solutions of varying pH.
My labs are straightforward. Some of them are paper labs, but the ones that involve significant laboratory setup or calculations to be made on the part of the teacher are written about in a Teacher Notes section at the end of those particular labs. I use relatively safe and inexpensive chemicals. Of course, safety precautions are always noted at the beginning of the lab.
