Product Description

Get your students involved with reviewing & practicing acid and base naming to complete this chemistry tarsia puzzle. Students will match edges of acid and base formulas with their corresponding name.

There are multiple ways to structure the use of this tarsia puzzle:

  1. Pieces with edge names & no template given.
  2. Pieces with edge names & template given.
  3. Pieces without edge names (less challenging) & no template given.
  4. Pieces without edge names (less challenging) & template given.

This tarsia puzzle lends itself to many flexible ways in which you could use it:

  • Laminate and cut out the puzzle pieces for repeated use. Store them in individual baggies & all baggies in one large manila envelope or larger baggie for easy use in the future.
  • Allow students to work individually, or together in groups of 2-3 for collaboration & test review.
  • Pass out the template for students to glue their tarsia pieces on to turn in or glue into an interactive notebook.

Consider using this Naming Flowchart: Ionic, Acidic and Covalent Compounds for review prior to working through this puzzle.
