A useful packet when teaching about the impact of acid rain on the environment. There is touch of geography in the map activity, as students examine pH data in the continental map of the United States. In total, you receive the following resources in this packet.
1. A map of the US with pH values along with a question worksheet. Answer Key included.
2. A graphing activity where students plot the survival rates of populations as the pH drops. Organisms include bass, trout, mayflies, crayfish and others. There are two versions of the graph; in one students plot 7 organisms, in the other only 5 organisms are used which allows you to differentiate the activity. Custom graph paper is provided.
3. An open-ended question worksheet on acid rain.
4. Descriptions of three hands-on experiments on acid rain that use plants. The experiments use seeds, seedlings, and leaf cuttings.
