We’ve all been to meetings about students that are far longer than they should be, only to leave with a cloudy understanding of what was decided, not to mention who was assigned to implement which strategies. Improve meeting clarity and effectiveness by creating an ACTION PLAN! This is a simple, yet VERY helpful tool.
All participants receive a completed copy at the end of the meeting, so everyone is clear on who is responsible for implementing which strategies by a certain date (be sure to have an Action Plan designee at the meeting responsible for filling out the form). At subsequent meetings, refer to the action plan to follow up re: fidelity of strategy implementation. Action plans will easily become part of the culture of your building as staff recognize the effectiveness.
