This is a PowerPoint game for action verbs. The PowerPoint show flashes through action verb flash-card pictures until the student (or teacher) presses "S" on the keyboard to halt the show on an action verb picture. Students then have to say what the verb is.
A click-box next to the picture reveals the answer and another box can be clicked to reveal the points awarded.
There is a scoreboard built in to the show so the teacher can update the scores (for 2 teams) live within the game without having to exit the slide show game.
I normaly play this with primary 2 or 3 in two teams, whereby each student comes up individually, team by team, to stop the flashng pictures themselves. For P1, they're too young to allow to touch the teacher's laptop computer, so I stop the show manually myself when the chosen student shouts "stop".
I've used this game with lower primary ESL students in a Thai private school, and the students are fascinated by it.
The game covers the following action verbs:
- play (guitar)
- clean / tidy
- fix / repair
- dive / swim
- fall off / slip
- wash up
The preview file is a short screen-shot video in which you can see the game running.
It's a fun twist on conventional hand-held flashcads, and allows the teacher a little rest from standing up and revealing cards from a deck. Hope it's helpful to you.
