Listening is an important skill that many don't realize needs to be taught. Meet Howard B. Wigglebottom, an adorable bunny who has a hard time being an active listener. I use this lesson at the beginning of the year to teach young students how to listen with their whole body. Through Howard's mistakes we learn what makes a good listener. In addition, I begin to teach feelings through this story (happy, proud, and sad.) Included in this lesson is an activity for students to complete and discuss. A parent letter is included as well as a letter to homeroom teachers (if used as a Guidance Counselor). This is a great lesson for beginning of the year Kindergarteners for Guidance Counselors or classroom teachers.
