As music educators we all know how important it is for our students and their development as instrumentalist to not only be exposed to music but learn how to actively listen to the music around them. Listening to advanced levels of performance helps them to do many things, including but not limited to recognizing good tone, intonation and proper technique. Active listening may also increase overall excitement for their instrument. These Active Listening Cards provide endless opportunities in the classroom as well as reinforce active listening skills in every level of band student.
Each card includes the title of a significant and/or respected piece of concert band literature, composer, the year it was composed or released, a QR code for students to scan with their one to one device and a direct internet link.
Great for use with:
Bell Ringers and Class Starters!
Listening Journals (double sided journal page included)!
Not just for band! There are many activities that involve incorporating music into the everyday classroom. Have students listen to a piece individually or as group. Then, have the students;
Write a reflection!
Create a poem!
Draw a picture!
Discuss what they heard!
Use in relaxation and reading time!
Create a story!
