In this mini-unit, students learn about infectious diseases using resources available from Rice University – Center for Technology in Teaching and Learning. Then, they imagine a new disease, identifying the agents responsible, potential symptoms, methods of exposure, and treatment options. They will write and film a fictional news broadcast to raise awareness about their disease.
Alternatively, students could research a real disease instead of creating a new one.
