The pedagogical goal of the activity cards is to spark interest, curiosity and sensitivity towards sounds and audiovisuality. The tasks encourage in a playful way to observe, think, imagine, see, and above all to listen.
Material is created for supporting multimodal literacy of children. Multimodal literacy means the ability to understand different ways of content representation and meaning-making.
Activity cards can be printed, saved, projected on a screen or worked on a mobile device in a way that best suits the situation and goals. They can also be applied in many different ways by combining and supplementing them, or by coming up with new ones yourself. Feel free to adapt!
The material is provided by authors, Sara Sintonen and Emilia Erfving. They are both pedagogues who are interested in digital culture and multimodal literacies. Sara Sintonen works at the Department of Teacher Education at University of Helsinki, and Emilia Erfving is an art teacher and a freelance artist, focusing mainly on photography and illustration. They share the idea of learning and teaching as a treasure hunting.
