Interpretive reading adapted from two short videos about Spanish food and Mexican food. The two videos offer information about the two different cuisines. I have included screen shots from the two videos for the interpretive reading, as well as questions for students to observe vocabulary in context and check for understanding of the text. At the end of the activity, there is an opportunity for students to reflect on the cultural products and perspectives behind them.
Teachers can take the conversation to what ever depth is appropriate for their students and their proficiency level.
The video links are credited and noted at the bottom of page two if you would like to actually watch the videos.
This can be used as an interpretive assessment if that works for your class.
