Description

Add a grammatical twist to studying "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe! Study verbals in context— participles, gerunds, and infinitives. If you need an interesting verbals activity, bring in poetry!

Included in this activity for "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe:

☆ A link to two Google Drive presentations. One is the student version of "The Raven." The other is the teacher/ answer key.

☆ Each slide has a different stanza. Verbals are underlined. Students will need to color code the underlined word as a gerund, participle, or infinitive. Over THIRTY words are underlined. (Very few of these are infinitives.)

☆ Higher-order thinking questions and suggestions for use are included.

Students can analyze the language of this famous poem in a unique way! This activity for the "The Raven" gets students considering grammar in what they already study.

Pictures of a few slides are in the thumbnail.

This takes me a class period to review verbals in "The Raven." I like to bring in alternatives to the grammar worksheet to make grammar fun.
