This activities in this handout allow for students to enjoy the film without having to listen for discreet details.
In the first exercise, students are given pictures of the characters and a box of names. They have to match the name with the character. Then they need to match the character with a description of both physical and personality traits. Next they are asked to try to match the character from the film with the illustration of that character from the book.
Next they are given a box of adjectives and asked to make comparisons between the characters from the film.
Finally, they are given a second box of adjectives (both common adjectives and cognates) and photos of secondary characters from the film. They are asked to use complete sentences to describe the physical traits, personality traits, and likes and dislikes of each character.
I use this handout with my Novice-High students. You could copy all of these activities or just choose one.
