This introductory activity for teaching drama to beginners includes 5 ways actors can communicate on stage and then asks students to reflect on each of them, while also providing some information about themselves.
It’s meant to raise awareness and encourage students to reflect on the 5 aspects of drama introduced, so the questions are very open-ended. Any answers that show thought and can be explained by the student may be accepted for credit.
Suggestions for Use
When the students finish filling out their sheets, I ask each one to come to the front of the class, introduce themselves, and tell us about one of the props they picked and how they use that object in their lives. I then collect their answers and read them over to learn a bit more about my students and their interests, before returning them and reminding my students to memorize the 5 items in an actor’s toolkit for their written exam.
