PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Would an asteroid impact kill a killer whale, or an ant? Would a nuclear explosion kill a cockroach or a dolphin?

An informational text and bracket activity. Students navigate through 6 different extinction events with a March Madness bracket type activity. The activity begins with informational text explaining different types of adaptation and extinctions (2 pages with comprehension questions and vocabulary.) Then students use their new skills to look at 6 different extinction level events, as they fill out their brackets. Students draw comic strips showing their favorite "competition" in each round, proving that they understand how those disasters could produce an extinction and how an animal could adapt to the same. Discussion questions and a writing prompt finish up the assignment.
