In these NGSS aligned activities/assessments students use their senses to observe the features of feathers. After recording their observations, students read Science Notes about the structure and function of a system of different kinds of feathers and how the feathers help birds survive. Finally, students engage in argument from evidence by writing a detailed descriptive paragraph about how feathers are essential to bird survival.
