As a school-based occupational therapist, I regularly provide teachers and students with strategies to improve handwriting legibility. HOUSE-mouse Adapted Paper was designed to assist both general and special education students with building spatial planning skills for proper letter sizing, spacing, and use of writing lines through the use of specialized pictorial and verbal prompts. Paper options #1-4 were developed with the beginning hand writer in mind. Options #1 and #2 have a box at the top for illustrations. Options #1 and #3 have vertical dividers to cue for spacing between letters/words, similar to graph paper. This is particularly helpful to assist left-handed students and early readers with building spacing skills. Both color and black & white paper options have been included along with recommendations for use.
