I have created an adapted reading of Shakespeare's Macbeth that includes exposure to several literary elements and figurative language. This includes:
The packet also includes exposure to rhyming, and plot development, and also has quizzes at the end of the acts.
Key vocabulary words are bolded and translated into Spanish and Bengali because that is the majority of my population, but feel free to disregard it if you just have struggling native English speakers.
If you have other languages that you teach and would like to change the translated vocabulary words, once I see that you've purchased the reading, I will send you the .pages format so that you may change as you see fit.
Not included in this packet, but used with this unit is the argumentative essay + rubric, storyboard, literary analysis + rubric, and movie worksheet analysis all available for purchase. I would HIGHLY recommend you also download the figurative device tracker which is free of charge. This is to ensure that your students keep a record of all the figurative language and literary devices used.
Please let me know if you have any questions! I hope you enjoy this as much as I did creating it. My ELLs really enjoyed the story.
