American Symbols and traditions for special needs students in various grade levels. Students can learn the vocabulary, symbols, and meanings/practices of United States Symbols and traditions through a flip book and/or receptive id and completing comprehension activities to show what they have learned! This activity can be used as a supplement to a history unit or as a separate activity. This product can also be utilized for the Elementary History VAAP HS-C2 (SOL 1.11). The student will recognize the symbols and traditional practices that honor and foster patriotism in the United States by a) identifying the American Flag, Bald Eagle, Washington Monument, and Statue of Liberty. Suggested use: Use the vocabulary, symbol, & meanings/practices pages to teach/review and then you have options to use the alternative symbol cards for receptive id using the same questions as the assessments or use the assessments as evidence.
