This activity will help students practice developing conceptual understanding of adding decimals.
Materials: 2 colored pencils or 2 different colors per player & 2 dice
1) Pair students up
2) Players will take turns rolling the dice and then shading in their charts (change colors each round)
*1st roll is the tenths
*2nd roll is the hundredths
3) Students will record and add the decimals together in the space provided (line up the decimals vertically)
4) Continue playing - player who gets the closet to 2.00 wins a point
This game can be used to supplement any of your place value decimal lessons. Use them with your small groups, use them as math game centers, use them as whole group games, etc.
*this game will allow students to practice applying their knowledge of place value (decimals) in a way that is very practical and engaging!
