My students have been working with decimals and I wanted to give them some real life practice. These activities are perfect to add into my Math center stations to work on adding, subtracting, and rounding decimals. There are so many different ways to use these activities.
*Add Shopping List – pgs. 3 – 7
Each of these 4 cards have 5 items for students to add up. Students will use the grocery cards to find the items and add. It is teacher preference to use the normal price cards, sale cards, or a mixture of both. There is also a blank workmat that teachers or students can create their own list to add.
*Subtract Differences – pgs. 8 – 12
Each of these 4 workmats have different items for students to find the difference between the normal price and sale price of the items. Students will use the set of cards to locate the grocery items and find how much money they are saving. There is also a blank mat for more customization.
*Round Decimals – 13 - 16
These 3 mats have 5 decimals each to round to the nearest tenth. There is a blank worksheet as well.
Add with Task Card Choice (Student Writing Paper) – pg. 17
This worksheet gives students the flexibility to choose their own 5 items and add them up. Items could be a mixture of normal and sale prices.
Grocery Store Task Cards – pgs. 18 – 28
These 20 grocery items come in 2 sets - one regular price items, one sale prices. I would suggest printing more than one set of cards for easy access at all the stations.
No answer keys are included due to the variety of possible combinations.
