Add and Subtract using Base Ten! Students practise using 'les dizaines' and 'les unités' and exchanging them to regroup. This is a great visual for students to see how units can be exchanged when needed.
How to use the worksheets:
When adding, I have students use 1 colour to draw the base tens for the first number and another colour to draw the second number. When exchanging blocks, students use a third colour. This really helps students to see what is going on with the numbers.
During subtraction, students begin with the first number and use 1 colour to show the base tens. Then if they need to exchange, they use a second colour. A third colour is used to show the subtraction.
