My math students love our box of mystery to practice comparing decimals and adding and subtracting decimals!
To complete this Box of Mystery, you will need a 4 digit lock that you can set to the combination needed for this activity.
Each group gets 1 of 4 puzzle pieces. The puzzle piece has decimals problems on it. The answers spell out where the next puzzle piece is hidden in the school. They will go find that puzzle piece, complete the math problems on it, and then be led to another area of the school.
My students LOVE this opportunity to solve math and leave the classroom to go get puzzle pieces!
The four puzzle pieces will end up giving the combination to the 4 digit lock that is on your "box of mystery." The team then gets into the box and collects whatever is inside!
I cannot tell you how much fun my own students have with "Box of Mystery!"
**If you cannot let your students leave the classroom, I included a version where they can remain in your room the whole time.**
