Product Description
This affordable 9-day mini unit is geared towards teaching 5th graders how to add and subtract fractions, as well as reduce fractions. There is enough content in this file to stretch the unit to well over nine days. It can easily be used with students of different grades with little alteration (particularly 4th grade). The first couple days of the unit are spent exploring fractions using manipulatives and understanding addition and subtraction of fractions as joining and separating parts referring to the same whole.Students learn to add and subtract using manipulatives as well as using arithmetic. The manipulatives which are suggested are fraction rods as well as fraction circles (not included).

Detailed list of what is included:

- Daily objective calendar
- Guided worksheets for each day's lesson (9 days)
- 7 challenge problems for enrichment or station work
- 3 exit tickets
- 11 days of warm-ups , which are standardized test questions (These are meant for test prep after learning the various operations. Each daily lesson worksheet includes a couple warm-up questions which build upon previous lessons from this unit.)
- 3 days of homework worksheets

**Please note that certain exercises in the Challenge Problem file do NOT include numbers. One skill I teach my students is that math doesn't necessarily involve given numbers. They have the power to decide which fractional parts they will utilize.
